Nanogate AG expands its product portfolio with more functional surfaces for glass applications
Göttelborn/Düsseldorf, Germany, 22 October 2008. At glasstec, the leading trade fair for the world glass industry, held in Düsseldorf, Nanogate AG (ISIN DE000A0JKHC9) is presenting new functional surfaces for a variety of glass applications. One of its innovative focal points is the protection and refinement of decorative and furniture glass with a matt finish. The new products provide glass surfaces with permanent protection which minimises undesired marks such as fingerprints. These products are, for the first time, making it possible to realise a new performance category for glass coatings involving UV hardening with extremely short process times. In addition, the glass items enhanced in this way, in contrast to conventional solutions, are durable and guarantee consumers an optimum effect. Nanogate is also presenting further examples of innovative glass refinement at the glasstec fair. One of these is shower glass coatings, an area in which the company has become one of the world's leading suppliers.Items featuring matt decorative and furniture glass are omnipresent in households and architecture and include lamps, doors, display cases, glass casing and furniture fronts, for example. Their surface structure, however, makes them highly susceptible to dirt deposits and particularly difficult to clean.
At glasstec 2008 in Düsseldorf, Nanogate is presenting a coating which provides difficult glass surfaces of this kind with particularly effective protection. Known as grip protection, it is achieved by the filling out of the ultra-fine glass structure in a refinement process. This prevents any dirt from forcing its way into the matt glass structure. The new Nanogate system is extremely durable and, in addition to its permanent protective impact, greatly simplifies cleaning and provides new design options for glass surfaces. It can also be applied with every possible colour shade or intensity and boasts a very high level of UV stability.
The products developed by Nanogate are offered in both room temperature-hardening and UV-hardening form - the latter had previously not been possible. This UV-hardening, however, is the very feature from which many crucial advantages flow, not just for those refining the products but also for consumers. For example, this extremely fast procedure facilitates a notably robust and lasting surface, permits its use outdoors and achieves maximum stability when any cleansing agent is used on it. Furthermore, the system is particularly inexpensive in operational practice because it has merely to be sprayed on or rubbed in and already displays all the desired attributes after the subsequent hardening process.
Nanogate is presenting new products and applications in other glass segments such as sanitary glass items, too. In this area, the company has advanced to become a leading supplier over the past few years, integrating its systems with great success into product ranges from the most well-known shower screen manufacturers around the world.
"With our new product innovation for glass surfaces, industrial users in particular are tapping into highly interesting areas of market potential which will make their presence felt in Nanogate AG's sales in the next financial year," says Peter Bock, Head of the Buildings/Interiors segment, adding: "We are going to carry on opening up new international fields of application that will benefit from our expertise in the field of buildings and interiors."
