Reponsibility

As a systems provider for high-performance surfaces we take our responsibility towards the environment, society and our local sites very seriously.

As a systems provider for high-tech surfaces and components with a particular focus on nanotechnology, we take our responsibility towards the environment, society and our local sites very seriously.

Active dialogue with the wider community

For many years Nanogate has followed a policy of active public dialogue in order to market its nanotechnology products with a high degree of transparency. We are the first nanotech company in Germany to have been certified in accordance with ISO 9001, back in 2000. We were also the first nanotech company to obtain the ISO DIN 14001 certification for environmental management. Since 2009 all of Nanogate’s activities and products for protecting the environment and the climate have been bundled under the Green Nano© label. Nanogate is thereby consistently pursuing the goal of carrying on sustainable business based on nanotechnology.

The components of our corporate commitment to occupational health and safety include our involvement with the EU research project NanoSustain, the NanoKon project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research and Education and the Nano-Sustainability Check run by Oeko-Institut e.V. for the uniform evaluation of nanoproducts’ sustainability potential. For many years Nanogate was part of the federal government’s NanoKommission. The guidelines published by the commission on the responsible handling of nanomaterials are our benchmark and inspiration for the successful use of industrial nanotechnology.

Committed to education and SMEs

The Saarland-based company is also particularly active in the education and training of young people, also by means of partnerships with schools (e.g. Am Rotenbühl grammar school, Saarbrücken). Nanogate has played a key role in the establishment and development of the CSR network “Responsible Partners in Saarland”, which is part of the nationwide initiative “Companies for the Region” run by the Bertelsmann Foundation. This focussed application of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is part of Nanogate’s corporate strategy and is put into action by company management and employees through numerous activities.
